The Australian Music Centre was established in 1974 to facilitate and encourage the creation, performance and understanding of music by Australian composers and sound artists.
In a unique collaboration between The Song Company and the Australian Music Centre, 2005 saw the launch of MODART, a professional development project which provided opportunities for 13 emerging composers to develop works for vocal ensemble, with a public performance by The Song Company.
MODART05 was featured on ABC Classic FM's website with downloadable MP3 versions of each work and interviews that ABC's Australian Music Curator Stephen Adams conducted with 12 composers who participated in the program. The performance of MODART05 was broadcast nationally on 16 January 2006 on ABC Classic FM.
The collaboration will continue with MOZART 2007.
