Denmark: May 2006 Report
New Structure for International Music Cooperation
The Danish Minister of Culture has approved a new structure for music exchange and cooperation for the Danish music organisations. The Danish Arts Council's Music Committee will be making the priorities, financing and evaluation, while the state-supported organisations, like ROSA — The Danish Rock Council, The Danish Jazz Federation, The Danish Folk Council, World Music Denmark and SNYK — The Secretariat for Contemporary Danish Music, will be the networking and project partners for international genre-based musical exchange. The Danish Arts Agency's Music Centre will be the coordinator for joint cultural and music projects, secretariat for international work among the music organisations, run the music portal www.DanishMusic.info, and will be the Danish partner in NORDMIC and IAMIC.
MIDEM 2006
One hundred Danish music business people were part of the Danish stand at the international music fair MIDEM in Cannes, 22-26 January 2006, which was held for the 40th time. Danish participants were records companies, music publishers, booking and management agencies, festivals and other music organisations. The Danish stand was re-designed under the logo and name of the new music Danish portal: DanishMusic.info. The organisation Music Export Denmark presented a number of Danish export rock/pop acts on a DVD presentation on the stand.
