The Finnish Music Information Centre (Fimic) was founded in 1963. Fimic is dedicated to making Finnish music known and performed both in Finland and abroad by distributing sheet music, producing publications and compilation CDs and providing information.
Serving the needs of people professionally involved with music, we actively promote Finnish composers from classical music to jazz, contemporary folk, pop and rock.
We attend the main international music fairs and congresses all over the world in partnership with the Finnish music industry. We are also coordinators, initiators and partners of many special projects, such as various export drives.
As experts on Finnish music we further act as consultants in planning the repertoire for festivals and concerts.
Fimic maintains a website of 5,000 pages at www.fimic.fi giving the latest news along with lists of works, biographies and discographies, and general articles on Finnish music. Website visitors can also listen to sound samples, browse our database for scores and order photos of composers for media use.
With over 35,000 scores Fimic has the biggest collection of contemporary Finnish music in the world and also supplies information services. We distribute unpublished works by Finnish composers and operate a browsable database on our website.
In addition to sheet music we archive press cuttings from Finnish and select foreign papers and magazines. We also have a sound archive and an extensive picture archive.
Fimic is part of Teosto, the Finnish Composers' Copyright Society.
