The French Documentation Centre for Contemporary Music is an important library of 9000 scores, 8000 recordings, 6500 dossiers on each piece of music and also videos, thesis, biographical data, books and a considerable amount of reference material on the world of contemporary music. It is a public service open to all. Although the main core of the documentation pertains to French composers, Cdmc is also open to all composers whose pieces are regularly played in France.

Cdmc is an important agency for the promotion of contemporary music, a service to performers and programmers throughout the country. Its web site promotes all that concerns contemporary music but also gives access to pertinent information concerning all institutions, public or private, which support and sponsor music.

Cdmc's own concerts, international conferences and symposiums on music or its main artistic or political issues are regular meeting points for musicians, composers, musicologists, and sociologists.

Cdmc- Brazil is the Center's branch in South America and is also dedicated to the documentation and promotion of Brazilian composers. It is an important turning point for information on contemporary music in all South America.

Cdmc is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Radio France, Sacem, Sacd and for Cdmc-Brazil, by Culture France - Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
