Days of Dutch Culture, Russia, 17 – 23 May 2006
This year, Gaudeamus will organize a big festival with Dutch contemporary music and music theater in Moscow, in the International Performing Arts Centre, or Dom Muzyki. There will be concerts by organ player Leo van Doeselaar, the jazz band New Cool Collective, the Schönberg Quartet, and many more performers from the Netherlands. The opening concert by the State Academy Symphony Orchestra of Russia will be conducted by the Dutch conductor René Gulikers. The Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble will perform Russian and Dutch contemporary music. As Dom Muzyki is presenting the Days in their series World Cultural Capitals, there will be a focus on the city of The Hague. Many works on the concert programs are written by composers from the so-called Hague School. Calliope Tsoupaki's music theatre Vita Nova is an example of that school, which was founded by Louis Andriessen. There will also be an exhibition about The Hague in the foyers of Dom Muzyki. Extra concerts in the Days of Dutch Culture are scheduled in Omsk and St. Petersburg.

European Competition for Live-Electronic Music Projects

The organising partners of this competition are: the Music Academy Tallinn, Estonia; EULEC in Lüneburg / Hamburg, Germany; CEM in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Aspekte Salzburg, Austria; CEMAT in Rome, Italy; MISO Music, Portugal and Gaudeamus, the Netherlands. The organizers of this competition are looking for project proposals which demonstrate in an innovative way new possibilities of the connection of instruments and live electronics. Up to six projects will be selected by a jury (representatives of the above-mentioned organisations); these projects should be produced by the applicants and will then be premiered during International Gaudeamus Music Week 2007 in Amsterdam.
Entry of projects: Entries consist of a musical and technical description of a project for up to 4 persons; these persons include the composer(s), the interpreter(s) and the technician(s). The entry should be done by all persons involved in the project.
The competition is open only to composers and interpreters with a European citizenship or composers and interpreters living in Europe for at least 10 years. The project descriptions should be in English, German or French. Furthermore the entry should consist of a biography of the involved persons, addresses, and proof of dates of birth.
Selection of projects: A jury, consisting of representatives of the above mentioned organising partners, will study the proposals and will select up to six projects for performance. The selected projects will be produced by the proposed collectives — composer(s) / interpreter(s) / technician(s) — and premiered during International Gaudeamus Music Week 2007. After the performance one project will be selected as prize winner. During the season 2007/2008 at least the prize winning project will be programmed by the organising partners; further performances (including those of the other selected projects) might be possible at activities of members of the ECPNM.
Deadline: The deadline for entry of projects is 30 June 2006.
