Orchestral Miniatures for the 40th Birthday of the Viennese Radio Symphony Orchestra 2009
<!--[if gte mso 9]>
Nearly a hundred miniature gifts - along the lines of 40 seconds for the 40th birthday - given to the RSO (Radio Symphony Orchestra) by Austrian composers.
No other Austrian orchestra performs so much contemporary music as the Viennese Radio Symphony Orchestra and presents so many works by living Austrian composers.
As one of the most versatile orchestras in Austria, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra interprets well-known compositions and rarities from the 18th and 19th Century and has always committed itself to exploring the respective present and possible future.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the RSO, Austrian composers presented the RSO with the gift of orchestral miniatures. Fragments of earlier times meet new compositions as well as attempts of sounds from the future.
Never before has there been such an extensive, colorful and heterogeneous collection of Austrian contemporary music.
And yet there are still many other miniatures to come.
