Slovenia’s Most Well-known DJ Celebrates 15 Years on the Scene
Slovenia’s most celebrated DJ Umek celebrated 15 years of artistry with a two-day event November 7 and 8 in the brand new Ljubljana club InBox. Throughout his career, DJ Umek has released a total of 460 tracks (of these, 73 are remixes while 267 are compilation releases) and has travelled more than a million kilometres, making roughly 850 appearances.

A very special event took place October 27 in Slovenian Philharmonic Hall: iconic band Laibach unveiled their latest project Laibachkunstderfuge to local audiences. Laibachkunstderfuge is an audio-visual arrangement of Johann Sebastien Bach’s Art of Fugue (known originally in German as Die Kunst der Fuge).

Diana Rotaru (1981, Romania) received the Prize for Shakti" (or Sakti) concerto for saxophone and orchestra performed on October 27 by Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra.

Finnish Music Information Centre (Fimic) has started promoting unpublished sheet music in pdf format. The renewed composer contracts allow Fimic to link whole works, instead of short samples, to Fimic Music Library Catalogue at the Fimic web site. With the digital promotion it will be easier for the interested around the world to browse through Finnish music.
