The 19th Central European Music Festival of Performing Art in Slovakia
A prestigious festival introducing young performing artists in concert. Laureats of renowned international interpretational competitions in various European countries will be in contest for winning the Music Critics Award for the Most Engaging Performance of the festival. The performers will include soloists – instrumentalists and vocalists – as well as conductors and small chamber ensembles.
The 19th Central European Festival of Performing Art will be held on April 20 – 25, 2009 at the Fatra Arts Centre in the city of Žilina. The event invites leading performers, laureats of the Queen Elisabeth Contests in Brussels, ARD in Munich, Prague Spring, in Geneva and others. In addition to soloists, concerts will also be given by leading orchestras from Slovakia, such as the State Chamber Orchestra Žilina, Cappella Istropolitana, the Slovak State Philharmonic Košice, the Prague Philharmonia and others.
Festival is held under the auspices of Mr. Jan Figel, member of European Commission responsible for education, training, culture and the Youth and Mr. Marek Madaric, minister of culture of the Slovak Republic.
