THE FURNACE OF COLOURS - Remembering Alun Hoddinott has been published by the Welsh Music Guild to mark the opening of BBC Hoddinott Hall at the Wales Millennium Centre, the new home of the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales.
This sixty page book contains brief forewords from the Guild’s Patron, Captain Sir Norman Lloyd Edwards, President, Dr Geraint Stanley Jones and Chairman, John Lewis and includes contributions from Elinor Bennett, Mervyn Burtch, David Childs, Alun Francis, Christopher Painter, Tony Small. Robin Stowell, Wayne Warlow and Jeremy Huw Williams.
All proceeds from this book of tributes, reminiscences, photographs and articles will be divided between the Welsh Music Guild, the charity devoted to the promotion of Welsh composers and performers, and the Alun Hoddinott Trust which is being established to provide assistance to enable young Welsh composers to study privately with established composers outside formal education.
This book will remain on sale throughout 2009 and is now available directly from the Welsh Music Guild at a cost of £7.50 plus £2.25 postage and package.
