Annual SIGIC General Committee Meeting
For the Slovenian Music Information Centre, a new president and administrative board are elected.
The annual Slovenian Music Information Centre (SIGIC) general committee meeting took place Tuesday, November 4, inside the Ljubljana City Museum in the Slovenian capital. This year’s gathering also included elections for top positions. SIGIC members chose musicologist Zoran Krstulovi? to replace the current president, composer Jani Golob. A new administrative board was also voted in and comprises, in addition to the new president, Hugo Šekoranja, Gregor Štibernik, Nenad Firšt, Borut Smrekar, Aleš Nagode, Aleš Strajnar, Rajko Murši? and Matej Zupan.
Attending members also reaffirmed their support for the organisation’s development plan for 2008-2012, which was recommended by the outgoing administrative board. During this period the organisation intends to devote special attention to the following objectives: changing the organisation’s legal status, increasing the number of and improving the professional configuration of employed teams, continuing to develop the programme MusicaSI, improving financial operations, strengthening international activities and deepening co-operation with music institutions in Slovenia (also with the aid of establishing musical information points with the necessary space, internet-based music magazines and publishing the first web-based music encyclopaedia in Slovenia).
