Music Information Centre Norway (mic.no) was established in 1979 and funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Church and Cultural Affairs.

mic.no’s goal is to work for increased use of Norwegian music domestically and internationally.

mic.no’s objective is to inform about and profile the qualities of the professional Norwegian music community (composers, performers and other parties), regardless of genres and artistic style.

mic.no offers consulting services for decision-makers, media, scientists a.o. domestically and abroad.

mic.no/english: Our English homepage serves as an important portal to the Norwegian music scene with news, information on composers, musicians and institutions, catalogues, calendars a.o.

mic.no/calendar: Calendar of domestic music festivals, plus a listing of Norwegian artists’ concert and touring activities outside Norway.

mic.no/directory: Norway’s most extensive music industry directory. More than 10000 records of artists, composers, bands and companies with key staff members. Contains addresses, links and biographies.

mic.no/catalogue: Complete online catalogue of Norwegian contemporary classical music. Our collection of more than 7000 works is available for sale or hire.

mic.no/listen: Listen & buy from our web shop. Legal downloading of more than 75000 tracks with free 30 seconds previews.

mic.no/promo: Worldwide distribution of promo records to music industry execs, media representatives, institutions and other relevant parties on the international stage.

mic.no/toursupport: Administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ tour support programme in support of Norwegian artists and bands international touring activities.

mic.no/market: Our marketing department, located in Bergen, runs the two companies MIC Media and MIC Innovation.

mic.no/faq: Q&A’s about the music industry for young upcoming bands and artists (in Norwegian only).

ballade.no: mic.no runs Norway’s largest online music magazine that covers all genres of music and serves as the domestic music community’s most important discussion forum (In Norwegian only).

mic.no is located in Oslo and shares offices with The National Library, Norwegian Jazz Archives and Norwegian Folk and Popular Song Archives.

mic.no organizes various conferences and seminars with domestic as well as international participation.

mic.no is represented at a wide range of international trade fairs and conferences and also acts as a co-ordinator for Norwegian participation to some of these events.
