The Danish Arts Foundation's two music committees have awarded prestigious three-year working scholarships to a classical music composer, a creative musician in the electronic borderland between classical music and jazz, and the octet Under Byen.
2008 was given the official title of "Sangens År" (the Year of Song) in Denmark, and resulted in an increased focus on all kinds of song in musical life and in the educational institutions. The campaign was a great success, with hundreds of initiatives and events taking place right across the country.
