Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe awards prizes for electronic music

The Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie) has awarded the Giga-Hertz-Prize for Electronic Music together with the Experimentalstudio of the SWR (Southwest Broadcasting Company).

York Höller wins 2010 Grawemeyer Award for Sphären

German composer York Höller has won the 2010 University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition for Sphären, a major orchestral score composed between 2001 and 2006.

Call for Application: The 3rd Giga-Hertz-Award for electronic music is open for entries.

In 2007, the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics and the EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO of SWR Radio inaugurated the annual Giga-Hertz-Award for electronic music. This new international music award with its future-oriented concept exists thanks to the initiative and commitment of ZKM director Peter Weibel.

Ernst von Siemens music prize awarded to Klaus Huber

This year the Swiss composer Klaus Huber will receive the International Ernst von Siemens Music Prize, which is endowed with 200,000 €. Born on November 30, 1924 in Bern, Huber is regarded as one of the outstanding figures within the Contemporary Music scene.

The German Music Information Centre celebrates its tenth anniversary

Ten years on from its foundation, the German Music Information (MIZ) can look back on a record of success. Launched in 1998 under the auspices of the German Music Council, the MIZ has since established itself as an invaluable information facility for all aspects of the German music world.
