Polish pianist Malgorzata Walentynowicz wins the International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition 2009

The International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition, organized by Music Center the Netherlands and open to musicians up to 35 years of age, took place in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) from 20 to 26 April 2009.

Next International Gaudeamus Music Week

Entries for the Gaudeamus Music Week 2009 must be received by January 16, 2010. Composers born after September 6, 1979 may enter works by using the entry form.

The ISCM-IAMIC Young Composer Award 2008

Diana Rotaru (1981, Romania) received the Prize for Shakti" (or Sakti) concerto for saxophone and orchestra performed on October 27 by Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra.

The award was inaugurated in 2002 and will be presented each year to a selected composer under 35 whose work is featured in the annual ISCM World Music Days.

Young Composers Meeting 2009

The 15th Young Composers Meeting will take place in Apeldoorn from 8-13 February 2009. The meeting is organized by the orchestra de ereprijs in collaboration with the MCN - International Gaudeamus Music Week (Composition Competition) and with Cultural Center Gigant and Markant.

International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition

The International Gaudeamus Interpreters Competition for performers of contemporary music, hosted by MCN, will take place in Amsterdam from 18-26 April 2009. The competition provides an opportunity for contemporary music performers to meet other musicians from all over the world. During the festival workshops, master classes, and concerts will take place.

International Gaudeamus Prize 2008

The International Gaudeamus Prize 2008, an award of 4,550 Euros, was awarded to the American composer Huck Hodge (b. 1977). The award is intended as a commission for a new work to be performed at the next edition of the International Gaudeamus Music Week (7-13 September 2009).

New CDs

On Saturday, 6 September 2008, three new compact discs devoted to Dutch electroacoustic music were presented by MCN. At the presentation Kees Tazelaar gave a short reading on the history of electronic music in the Netherlands with images and sound samples.
