The British Music Information Centre (Bmic) is one of the leading organisations in the UK supporting new music. Founded in 1967, its mission remains to promote and document the work of today’s composers, increasing performance, understanding and access to the music for a wide range of audiences.

Key services include:

Collection. A unique library resource that includes scores and recordings of music by over 2,000 composers. A searchable database of the collection, also available on-line, makes possible detailed searches for repertoire.

Web-site. Bmic’s web pages provide a focal point for access to a range of information about new music in England. Our resources include digitised scores and recordings, contact information for many hundreds of new music related organisations, news, on-line sales and a download site for new recordings.

Live events. Bmic’s annual new music series, The Cutting Edge, has attracted wide publicity, broadcasts on national radio and supports a national tour, bringing new music events to promoters across the UK.

Work with composers. Through the Voices schemes, Bmic works to print, distribute and promote the music of some of the UK’s leading young and middle-generation composers.
